Urban West | Winter Construction Progress
S.C. Swiderski broke ground in October 2017 on Urban West, a 22 million dollar luxury multifamily development on N. 12th Avenue and Merrill Avenue on the west side of Wausau. S.C. Swiderski is the architect, builder and owner of Urban West which will house 132 luxury apartment homes in a variety of studio, efficiency, one and two bedroom floorplans. The apartments will range from 654 to 1334 square feet and offer private laundry, covered balconies, upgraded flooring, granite counters and stainless steel appliances.
S.C. Swiderski is based in Mosinee, Wisconsin. “I am excited to debut our new contemporary building design in our local market,” said Josh Sommerfeld, the architectural associate who has worked on the building since inception. He is enjoying seeing the building take shape as the first three-story apartment building is currently being framed. The building has secured, underground parking, a large community room with a full kitchen, fireplace and spacious entertaining area as well as a fully equipped fitness room. Other building features include secured entrances, elevators and storage lockers. To embrace the area’s vibrant art community, Urban West will display works by local artists in the common areas, leasing office and model home.
The exterior will have aluminum panels, brick and oversized windows bringing a sophisticated, urban look to the neighborhood. The interior finishes have been carefully selected explained Marketing and Design Coordinator, Elizabeth DeGroot. “We chose a luxury plank flooring to run throughout in the main living area to allow the tenants more flexibility in setting up the space to best fit their needs. We solicit feedback from our leasing and maintenance departments to make sure the materials are not only aesthetically pleasing and meet the desires of our tenants but are durable and functional.”
S.C. Swiderski is building the site for their real estate portfolio and will own, manage and maintain Urban West. “We have a vested interest in the quality of construction and the finishes. We benefit from having built, managed and maintained numerous other sites in the area can and draw from our experiences and the experiences of thousands of tenants,” said Leasing Manager Kari Kussow.
“Urban West will fill an under-served niche in Wausau providing an upscale rental option with great community amenities and the convenience of underground parking. We believe the tenant experience at Urban West will be second to none in the market,” continued Kari. The Leasing Department has named a dedicated contact, Matt Housworth, to assist with corporate contracts and furnished units which they see demand for at Urban West.
