Question & Answer with Pat- Corporate Housing

Today we spoke with Pat McElroy, Property Manager and Corporate Coordinator for the Wausau area to find out more about the opportunities for companies to partner with S.C. Swiderski for housing.

Question & Answer (1).jpg

Q:  What do you do in your role at SC Swiderski?

A: In addition to managing sites in the Wausau area, I work with area companies to provide housing options for their employees. I serve as the corporate coordinator for our two new construction sites in Wausau as well as our other Wausau area apartments.

Q: What are the housing needs in Wausau?

A: Employers shared that the availability of quality housing and the types of housing options in the area can be an obstacle in the recruiting process and also in retaining workers. I am happy that our company works diligently to bring more housing options to the communities we serve. Our two new sites in Wausau are a great example of the company responding to unfilled demand in the area.

Q: Tell us about the two new sites.

A: Westwood Estates provides very spacious 2 and three bedroom apartment homes with attached garages in a fantastic setting near the medical hub. Urban West will open this summer and has a studio, one and two bedroom options with underground parking, fitness room and community room. Both have high-end finishes like granite counter tops and great customer service.

Q: What programs do you have for companies to partner with you?

A:  We have two options - a referral program and a corporate contract program. Some companies provide referrals to their employees to help with their housing search. With our SCS Corporate Referral Program, we provide tours of our sites and informational packages so recruiters and hiring managers can make referrals with confidence. We also can provide materials for recruitment packages.

The next option is for companies that provide housing for employees or pay for lodging for contract workers or as part of a relocation or recruitment package. The SCS Corporate Contract Program allows them to have a short or long term lease with us to fulfill their obligation. Their employee experiences a great living experience which reflects on the company.

Q: What other benefits do the programs have?

A:  We offer all-inclusive billing for our corporate contracts for their convenience. We also allow mid-month move-ins, transfers between sites and preferred rates.

From my experience as a hotel general manager in the area, I know many businesses utilize hotels for their employees and recruits. Once they learn about our programs, they are pleased with other benefits of an apartment over a hotel. Our program is more economical than long-term hotel stays and provides a great experience for their employees. Employees enjoy a full kitchen , garage, in-unit laundry, more privacy and don’t need to travel with their personal belongings. They also experience a greater connection to the community as they meet other permanent residents.

Q: Do you have furnished apartments?

A: Yes, we have exclusive packages for our corporate partners for furnished apartments. We have a partnership with WG&R Furniture to provide quality, modern furniture and work with their designers to ensure style and sizes are perfect for the apartment.

Q: How does a company get started with a partnership?

  1. A: They can reach out to me, and I will work to find them the best solution for their needs. pmcelroy@scswiderski.com or 715-498-7273
